Ah, yes..the ol' time favorite...movie night. Well I know some of you may be a little surprised, "well now sir, do you know what those movie theaters are charging for admission these days? Are you mad? Those 3D screenings alone are enough to wipe your chequing account to make up for the mass hoarding of them special glasses" (you know you have your own swiped pair at home). Ah, but wait, this is all about great deals right?
Ok, here's how you can enjoy the movies on the big screen and save at the same time. Just buy your admission passes thru deals. For example I stacked up on mine through my building management at work. They were offering them for 50% off so why not? They expire in 3 years time so you have plenty of opportunities to use them.
Telus also has good deals. Their 1/2 price movie combo is available at Cineplex every Tuesday. Also if you have wireless or other services with them, one of the perks they offer you on your bill is coupons for specials at Cineplex. AMC theaters have their own deals. For example the Demetrie's ice cream chain store in the same plaza as the AMC in my area offers discounted tickets if you have your lunch/dinner/snack with them. Also if you can cram 4 of your buddies into your van, you can head on down to a drive-in for as little as $25 per car..which from my math comes to $5/person.
You also have your Scene it Scotiabank card, which most have already heard about it I'm sure. Personally I dont think it's worth it, but I have buddies who swear by it, so you can judge for yourself. I'm sure at least for signing up you get some good deals off the bat.
And then there's RedFlag Deals where I'm sure you can find other movie passes deals as they become available from other retailers. But then RedFlag is applicable to any of the activities listed in this blog so you should have that site bookmarked if you are on a tight budget.
Cost: Varies (but should always be less than full admission price)
