Capture the Flag

So a friend recommended this event for me tonight...Capture the Flag on the streets of downtown Toronto. While I am intrigued by the setting (financial district at night is the perfect location), I am quite skeptical of the chances that I will make any sort of contributions to my team - either for capturing or defending the flag.

Here's the major drawback here..if you are alone or in a small group you have no chance. You are lost, out of the loop and forced to cover a huge distance. For this to be a fun event (and by fun I mean win the damn thing) you need a huge group, preferably with walkie talkies..or one of them ear communication systems ala secret service. A huge group, working together will make short work of the competition through teamwork and communication. That cannot be achieved with strangers. And if I'm gonna participate I need to win this thing or else it aint fun at all. I always win, that's me, so until I have my trusted (and sizable) squad on my back, be in the best shape of my life, have good communication gear, and maybe some night vision goggles, I will stick to video games capture the flag. Something like this:

True story.

If you don't care about winning and just want to take a stroll thru the financial district at night wondering "Wtf is going on?", "Who's screaming over there?", "Why is that street bum in the corner with the makeshift blue flag and the creepy rapist wink calling me over?", then by all means head on down and have some fun. It's free.
