Night Market is a nice family friendly option in the GTA, especially when compared to this, so dads everywhere can rejoice and bring their young'uns. Those worthy of the name dad. There are always exceptions:

The exception.

The main attraction at the Night Market should be the food. Street food! 100+ food vendors. That would be enough to satisfy anyone's appetite. Or for Queen Latifah's dietitian enough to get her fired for trying to starve the Queen to death.

Pictured here sporting that come here shemale look.

There's also a Truck Pull race for those who think hanging out with their queer friend in a bedroom browsing web cam chat rooms and flashing gang signs with kitten whiskers painted on their faces is too pointless.

No, really.

Best Soups in Toronto

I'm a soup fan. Anyone who knows me will tell you that if a day goes by without soup nearby I will completely freak out. What's not to love. It warms you up in the winter and cools you down in the summer (via the chillies you put in). It has a ton of vitamins from when the boiling process killed all the veggies swimming inside, drained them of all the vitamins and minerals and stored them into a heavenly broth that hits your body like a hefty dose of crack. And they come in a variety of shapes and forms, from watery to thick, from stoups to creams, from meaty to all veggies, from borscht's to consomme's. There's a million recipes and combinations and it's great because there is no right recipe for either one of them. Just throw some things (any things) into water and boil it down...that my friends, is soup. To me, it's one of life's necessities.

Mmm soup?
Some choices are just impossible to make.

Toronto.com has posted a nice article with all the best soup joints in TO. You should check it out.

Of course if we're speaking of soups, we cannot ignore the Japanese Noodle Houses. The ramen found in some of them is downright godly. You know the soup will be good for ya, when the menu asks for your fat content preference..regular fat, medium fat, or extra rich/fat. With the extra you'll need to down it fast, else your soup will go from a liquid state to a solid in a matter of minutes, as it cools down. Now that's flavor!

The Star ran a recent article with the best Noodle joints in the TO. We should consider ourselves extra fat lucky this year, as Kinton ramen just opened up and in my opinion it's the most authentic, with a great atmosphere and decent prices. Stay away from Momofuku, bad juju, bad soups. Now if we can get Vacouver's Hokkaido and Kintaro to open up shop here, we are set.

Oh and if you're keeping count. Nothing beats homemade soup, so get busy and put some meat and veggies in a pot of water.

Cost: much better than any entrees you'll get out there

Summerlicious

Get ready for the next month, the hottest, busiest month of the year. July 8-24 Summerlicious arrives, Prix Fixe restaurant promotion throughout Toronto. Expect heavy hitters like some of the high end pricy restaurants, as well as the more casual places, to offer a prix fixe 3-course lunch menu anywhere from $15.00 - $25.00 and three course dinner menu from $20.00 - $35.00.

Burger King Restaurant
Well not this casual. Garbage food is cheap enough.

It's the same recurring event each year, with the winter version..umm..in winter. This year over 150 restaurants are participating, which means you have plenty to choose from.

Restarant Dar Djerba
Sadly restaurant Dar Djerba is not on the list. Oh how unfair this world is.

So anyone from big families to the most pretentious Mr Fussy Pants food critic can find something to enjoy at Summerlicious this year.

Restarant Dar Djerba
And don't forget restaurant Far Niente's special.
Still the organic cancrelat gratin with Niagara aged larves croustillant sauce.

Cost: $15.00 - $25.00 lunch and $20.00 - $35.00 dinner

Winterlicious

Yay, although still about three weeks away, Winterlicious is almost upon us, and here I am giggling like a little school girl. What can I say..food is my weak spot. I missed it last time and I'll be damned if I'm gonna miss it again. This is not to be confused with Summerlicious, which occurs in the summer. No, really.

To summarize, winterlicious is a collection of top restaurants that have agreed to offer a prix fixe 3-course menu for $15 or $20 (lunch)...tad more for dinner. That not only is a killer deal, but you get to finally dine in a pretentious place like Bay St's Far Niente, take their Chive and Truffle Oil purée they call soup, and shove it right down their throats, while making fisting gestures with your hands...you know, just a little payback for the sweaty kuwaiti donkey vomit they tried to shove in your face earlier (albeit with a little chive garnish).

I'd suggest you do your dilligence and reasearch the 5-star restaurant you plan on attending, else you will be disappointed. If you like burgers or greasy food, don't lie to yourself by going to the Feast of the Maharaja restaurant, just cause it's the hot flavor of the month. Forget the stars and choose a place that you and your companions will enjoy..that will make Winterlicious that much savory and enjoyable.
